Concluding a contract
There are three steps:

- You will receive an invoice by e-mail.
- ÖKK BIKE can be concluded by individuals of 18 years and above, who legally reside in Switzerland and are the legal owner of a bike.
- The purchase date of the bike may be up to 14 days in the future or up to 7 years in the past.
- ÖKK BIKE BASIS can only be concluded if the bike is no older than 24 months.
- You do not need to be an ÖKK customer to conclude the insurance policy.
In principle, you can insure bikes that are up to seven years old.
For bikes that are less than six months old, the maximum insurance duration is five years. After this period elapses, it is possible to renew the insurance for an additional year. You can do so by taking out a new policy at bike.oekk.ch.
For bikes that are more than six months and less than 24 months old, the maximum insurance duration is three years. After this period elapses, it is possible to renew the insurance for an additional year. You can do so by taking out a new policy at bike.oekk.ch.
For bikes that are more than two years old, ÖKK BIKE PLUS can be taken out for one year. To extend the insurance, you need to take out a new policy at bike.oekk.ch.

The insurance cover applies for one specific bike. This means that you need to conclude a separate policy for each bike/e-bike.
No. Your annual premium will remain the same for the entire term of your insurance.
It is possible to make adjustments to your policy within two weeks of concluding it. Once this deadline has passed, adjustments will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Send any such requests to privateclients@oekk.ch.
Coverage
The insurance cover is also valid if your bike (of which you are the owner) is ridden by people who live with you in the same household and who are authorised to ride the bike.
Your insurance is valid worldwide. However, cover for mobility protection and bike/personal transport is only valid in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
You can find detailed information about the products, coverage and contractual conditions in our General Insurance Conditions (GIC). You received and confirmed there when concluding your policy.
In the event of a claim
The process varies depending on the claim being made. In the claim guidelines you will be informed of how to proceed.
In the event of a claim, the following costs are covered:
- Repair costs (incl. accessories) for your bike, provided the repair is carried out in an official specialist workshop.
- Replacement in kind of an equivalent value, provided the bike is less than two years old. The insurer reserves the right to make a cash payment instead. The amount of the remuneration is in all cases limited to the initial purchase price.
- Replacement value of as-new bikes: applies for bikes which were less than two years old when concluding the policy, but are now more than two years old (see present value table).
- Replacement value of second-hand bikes: applies for bikes which were more than two years old when concluding the policy (see present value table).

With ÖKK BIKE PLUS, in the event of your bike getting damaged within Switzerland or Liechtenstein, you are also reimbursed for the transport of your bike and yourself (e.g. transport home) and for mobility protection (e.g. in case of an important appointment) for up to CHF 300 per case. Up to CHF 800 is paid towards the cost of a replacement bike anywhere in the world.
Repair costs are covered if the bike is repaired in an official specialist workshop for bikes.
The excess amounts to CHF 100 per claim.
ÖKK BIKE PLUS: there is no excess for the benefits under mobility protection, replacement bikes and transporting bikes and people.
Termination
You can terminate the insurance policy early in the following cases:
- The contract can revoked within 14 days of concluding the insurance. This deadline is deemed to have been met if you, as the insured person, give written notification of the revocation to ÖKK within 14 days of concluding the policy. If notice is sent by post, the date of the post mark applies.
- In the event of a claim for which benefits are provided, as the insured person, you may terminate the contract. To do so, you must provide notice of termination within 14 days of acknowledging the payment. Your insurance coverage expires 14 days after notification of termination has been received.
- If you, as the insured person, move your place of residence under civil law to a location abroad, the insurance expires as of the date you move. You must notify ÖKK of your move.
- If the insured bicycle is sold, exchanged, transferred to a new owner or given away as a gift, you, as the insured person, must notify ÖKK of this in writing within 30 days of the change occurring. The rights and obligations arising from the contract in place are in each case transferred to the new owner, who is entitled to waive their right to the insurance coverage (in writing) being continued within 14 days of becoming the new owner. In this case, the remainder of the premium is reimbursed to you.
In all cases, notifications of termination must be sent in writing to ÖKK by e-mail or post.
