Insurance model with a fixed first point of contact
You can save money on premiums with the ÖKK CASAMED insurance models. The difference between these and regular basic insurance is that your first point of contact with any health-related questions is always your general practitioner, an ÖKK partner pharmacy, the telemedical service or an HMO centre. ÖKK has the right insurance model for all your needs.
Increasing your deductible
Together with the excess, the deductible is the amount that every insured person contributes towards the cost of their healthcare. If you choose a high deductible, you can save money on your premiums each month. It is always possible to change your deductible at the start of a calendar year.
Use our deductible calculator to check how much you could save by having a higher deductible.
Exclude accident insurance
If you work at least eight hours a week for the same employer, you are already insured through them against the financial consequences of an accident. You can therefore exclude accident cover from your private health insurance.
Application to exclude accident cover
Are you self-employed and have taken out voluntary accident insurance? In this case, it is also possible to exclude accident cover from your basic insurance.

Discount with prepayment
You usually pay your premiums monthly. By contrast, if you opt to pay your premiums on a semi-annual or annual basis, this reduces ÖKK’s administrative costs and we can therefore grant the following discounts:
- Annual prepayment: 1% discount
- Semi-annual prepayment: 0.5% discount
Would you like to benefit from this discount? Then get in touch with your ÖKK agency or contact us directly by e-mail at privatkunden@oekk.ch.
Requesting premium reductions
In Switzerland, people on modest incomes are entitled to a reduction on their premiums from the canton so that they can pay their basic insurance premiums. Each canton sets the amount of these reductions.
Suspending insurance during military service
If you perform more than 60 consecutive days of military service, your basic insurance benefits are insured via the Swiss government's military insurance during this time. This means that you can suspend your basic insurance with us for this period. All we need for this is a copy of your marching orders. After you have completed your military service, your basic insurance will restart automatically.
More information on insurance cover during military and civilian service or civil defence can be found in our FAQs. You can obtain detailed information on the insurance benefits provided under military insurance from Suva, which provides military insurance on behalf of the government.
