More about ÖKK CASAMED GENERAL PRACTITIONER
With the general practitioner model, your first point of contact is always your general practitioner. If they decide that you require further treatment by specialists or in a hospital, they will refer you immediately. If you consult a doctor, therapist or hospital without a referral from your general practitioner, you are responsible for the costs incurred yourself. Exceptions include emergencies as well as gynaecological, paediatric and optometric treatments. You can change your general practitioner at any time, for example if you move house. Simply let us know about any changes as soon as possible.
How it works
What to do in case of illness
- In any situation, you first contact your GP from the ÖKK list of general practitioners.
- If necessary, your GP will refer you to a specialist or hospital.
- Exceptions: for gynaecological, paediatric or optometric treatment, you may consult a specialist directly without having to first contact your GP.
- You must always have your ÖKK insurance card to hand.
- Submit your doctor’s bills and claim documentation to ÖKK.
What to do in case of emergency
- In case of emergency, you do not have to get in touch with your first point of contact. You can contact your nearest hospital or emergency doctor directly.
- Notify your GP within twenty days after the emergency and discuss the next steps together.
- If these steps are taken, ÖKK will cover the costs of the emergency medical treatment.
